The percentage of male patients for aesthetic plastic surgery is 12% to 15% of the total.
Men in their 40s are the main ones to claim this practice when they begin to observe the first signs of aging, wrinkles and more, trying to keep their youthness.
Blepharoplasty Eyelid Surgery
Modern surgical techniques allow substantial and long-lasting improvements in the physical appearance of both men and women; sometimes several of these procedures can be combined in the same intervention to achieve more complete results.
- Significant improvement in signs of aging.
- Improved vision.
- Helps eliminate eyelid skin and bags.
- Rejuvenated look.
The surgical procedure is simple and can be performed under local anesthesia and sedation in most cases.
It is one of the most recommended procedures and requested by men in Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, when you want to attenuate or reverse features of tiredness, sadness and / or discomfort that may present the ravages of age or related to heredity, the appearance of excess skin in the upper eyelid and bags in the lower make the face look tired and unhealthy, this surgery is called Blepharoplasty or Eyelid Surgery.
The wound or incision for both the upper and lower eyelid, is traced in the natural folds that are a couple of millimeters from the eyelashes in the lower eyelid and 4-6 mm in the upper eyelid, excess skin, muscle and fat bags are removed, individualizing the very particular needs of each patient, with the aim of achieving very natural results and with virtually imperceptible scars.
Rhinoplasty Nasal Surgery
Rhinoplasty is one of the most frequent interventions since the early days of Plastic Surgery; there are basically two reasons that justify it: To harmonize the features while maintaining a masculine appearance and to treat various alterations due to traumatic causes or alterations during facial development or growth.
The assessment takes into account the age, relationship of the nose with the rest of the face and the functionality of it; to always propose the most harmonious solution for both the nose and the face as a whole.
Depending on the patient’s general condition and the planned surgery, the procedure can be performed under general or local + regional anesthesia; it is normally a 1.5 – 2 hour surgery.
It is performed through incisions inside the nostrils or closed technique, but the opened technique can be suggested and explained in detail, the latter only used by some of us in secondary nasal surgeries already operated by other surgeons and/or reconstructive in congenital malformations.
- Modifies size, shape and width of the nose.
- Facial balance.
- Corrects respiratory function.
- Increases self-esteem.
Frequently men request Liposuction or Liposculpture to remove these fatty areas resistant to diet and/or exercise, and in many cases to remove fat where it is in excess and place it where it may be lacking, in order to obtain a better body contour.
Abdominal reduction, called Abdominoplasty or Lipectomy, may be an option for men who have abdominal skin flaps (usually the result of massive weight loss), weak abdominal muscles and/or untreated hernias.
GYNECOMASTY. One third of adolescents during their development experience breast growth and involution usually occurs before the age of 20, of which more than 80% return to normal. The male breast may develop due to an increase in both the gland and the fatty skin tissue, as well as hormonal problems.
It is evaluated to determine the best surgical technique, removing the glandular tissue through a crescent incision at the inferior border of the areola, usually complemented with liposuction of the anterior and lateral thorax.
- Eliminates fat in certain areas of the body.
- General health benefits.
- Changes in body contouring.
- Retracts and improves the quality of the skin.
It is well known that as people age, they evolve a slower metabolism and muscle loss, leading to greater difficulty in burning calories; however, more than half of Gen Xers claim to follow healthy habits most of the time, almost a third report struggling with unwanted fat deposits in specific areas of the body, making it their main physical and health problem.
It removes unwanted fat deposits and is considered a minimally invasive surgical procedure involving a thin rigid probe.
Vaser is an acronym for “Vibration Amplification of Sound Energy Resonance” which stands for Ultrasound. The current Lipo Vaser technology is third generation, which uses a low level of energy sufficient to eliminate most of the targeted fat cells without the risks of previous generations.
This technology works on most areas of the body, but is especially effective in re-defining and sculpting giving better definition around the muscle groups of most female and/or male contours.
Patients can undergo Vaser Lipo under any type of anesthesia, with surgical times from one hour or more depending on the areas to be worked on. As a minimally invasive surgical procedure, recovery time is significantly shorter than with traditional Lipo. Vaser Lipo causes less blood loss, pain and bruising; although recovery time varies for each patient. Consult with Dr. Tobar-Losada about the appropriate time to resume strenuous activity.
Vaser or Traditional Lipo?
Although the procedures employ different equipment and techniques, the ultimate goal is the same; to remove unwanted fat deposits.
Remember that both types of procedures can present bleeding and associated risks. Deciding on a board certified Plastic Surgeon you can trust, with instruments manipulating your body, regardless of the machine you choose, is much more important than the technique itself.
However, if you are also concerned about recovery time, pain and effectiveness in difficult areas of your body, Vaser Lipo may be your best option and get you back to your normal life in less time. While both techniques produce good results in the hands of experienced surgeons, constantly remember that neither procedure will keep you free of fat deposits forever.
